Upstart Catholic convert J. D. Vance aroused the righteous indignation of a prominent Jesuit priest by the Vice President’s claims that deporting immigrants was sanctioned by their shared religion. The priest responded by noting that Jesus was once a refugee in Egypt, and so all Christians should treat immigrants with dignity. For those unfamiliar with this particular biblical story, I, an undocumented biblical scholar, elaborate below.
Early Trump prototype, King Ptolemy of Egypt repatriated undocumented refugees Joseph, Mary, and their young son Jesus to their homeland of Judea after ruling their refugee status claim was no longer valid after the death of Herod the Great. Later propagandists, called evangelists, went so far as to claim the family was escorted back to their homeland with dignity by messengers of God, whom they called angels. The future alleged Jewish Messiah and founder of the Christian religion later rose to prominence in his true homeland before (and after) being executed for disturbing the peace in a violent insurrection that his followers called Palm Sunday in which he disrespectfully rode through the Capitol on a jackass, clearly threatening to overthrow the lawful government with his mostly peaceful ways. The mob that he aroused caused untold damage, defiling the environment by defoliating the trees and littering the streets with palm branches.
