Despite !scientists’! assertions that life on Earth came from invasive comets crashing into our home planet, they want to keep the rest of the universe sterile. What’s wrong with these people? I can see not wanting to accidentally bring alien life from other planets back to Earth. I kind like Earth the way it is now. But why should we treat other planets like they need to be some kind of pristine, hostile wilderness out to kill us the moment we set foot there, forever and ever, amen?
Please, Elon, I’m begging you, despoil the Moon and then Mars! Have your borers and your robots dig them up to make places we can live, scatter our waste (especially organic) everywhere. Maybe some of it will take hold and make the deserts bloom. “Flying Mother Nature’s silver seed to a new home in the Sun,” as Neil Young sang. The “New World” of the Americas gave us corn (maize), potatoes and tomatoes as well as, to be fair, tobacco and syphilis, but then we gave them horses, the wheel, and…, smallpox and tuberculosis, so there. Come on, trade in that old teepee for a shiny new condo. I swear it’s a fair deal. At least it’s progress, and isn’t progress what Progressives are all about? LOL, I keed, I keed.
Seriously though, what part of, “Go forth and multiply,” don’t you understand? As Ray Bradbury said upon the Viking landing on Mars, “We are the Martians now!” Screw the eternal vacuum of space lovers. Invest in Martian futures now!
